On the 22nd of September, all design industry assignees glammed up for the “What’s New and What’s Next” in ideas, designs, materials and products. The glamorous event was celebrated at the New York Design Center, the hallmark of contemporary design and the most preferred resource for the linked industry.
The NYDC has gained a worldwide reputation for providing imaginative solutions to any design challenge. Its goal is to enhance both living and working environments and it has been doing so for the past 80 years. You can understand why this is the ONE spot to host the biannual building-wide exciting event, which is focused on all things that are new in the design industry.


From 3 to 9 pm, the 16 storeys featuring merely 100 showrooms exhibited inspiring products from acclaimed designers. Taking the building tour, we were able to attend to lively discussions and presentations and to meet the esteemed talents behind the product lines, that outlined the directions that would surely spark everyone’s interior projects.

Among the refreshments and the classy hors d’oeuvres, we could enjoyed the alluring designs while viewing some newly renovated showrooms. We kept an eye out for “WNWN” tags identifying all new products and giving exclusive previews of the new collections.


For all of you who couldn’t embrace this amazing opportunity to celebrate hip and happening designs, here’s a sneak peek to the interactive database, enabling you to grab a taste of the featured collections. We could admire distinct styles combined in intriguing ways, clean and simple designs completed with touches of colour, environmentally friendly materials. Current trends and focal points in interior design featured interiors and products that were impossibly elegant, yet comfortable and never boring. We savoured one-of-a-kind creations with provocative and unexpected pairings that brought unique inspirations, from the perspective of design, art and furniture. The striking appearances showed subtleties in details that challenged the guests with so many more ideas and incredible resources.




Feeling slightly overwhelmed by the above numerous perspectives? Don’t. According to “Home Beautiful” Editor-in-Chief Newel Turner, none of us fit exclusively into one design category. Today’s best interiors combine different furniture styles, a variety of materials, layers of textiles and brave colour choices.
Concluding what turned out to be another smashing success, we can say that NYDC continues to be THE place for everything that is NEXT and NEW, hosting as usual an event that highlighted the flavours, colours and touches of the season.
