Rethinking the Ordinary

Product recycling has become the number one issue in the much debated environmental awareness. The fact is every one of us can be determined to consume the available resources in a responsible manner, such as preserving the energy by diminishing the output, using natural materials that can be refurbished or even purchasing products that have been manufactured with recycled materials. Most of the time, products are recycled in order to manufacture similar items (i.e. glass is recycled for glass products). However, there are times when creativity and ingenuity turn recycled materials into amazing products.
This article’s gallery aims to highlight the artistic potential and the hidden value borne by everyday objects. This is only a short list of ingenious products and the best part is the list can be updated daily.
Cork is underrated
Before throwing away wine corks, think about what you can do with a little imagination and some hot glue sticks.

Reclaimed office furniture
Some paper tubes and durable matte glass develop a nice concept for office furnishing.

Regular lighting is out!
Music items are in! Recreate the disco fever in your private home and light up the space with disco-like glows.

Ingenious lighting fixtures can be assembled out of reclaimed pieces of corrugated cardboard that put together a dynamic overlapping of lights and shadows, invigorating once lifeless materials.

Sofa or computer cooling ribs?
Why not both? Built with layers of different material boards, the computer-inspired sofa reveals a unique design that disperses the heat with its special rib-like structure.

Bring out the child in you
How many of you drift with the thought of childhood Lego games? Here’s a way to embrace childhood reminiscences in your everyday adult life.

Overlapping furniture
Why throw away broken desks and tables, when you can refurbish them? The tables are sawn in the middle and stacked together to form a one of a kind bookcase composition.

Multi-info desk
What is more representative for a library than an information desk made of recycled books? Here’s an incredibly inspired project for a Dutch library.

The above examples raise the awareness that each apparently ordinary object can become a totally new and functional item, instead of turning into disposable waste. So, think and live with respect towards nature, remembering that recycling can be useful and extremely fun at the same time.
