DIFFA’s Annual Dining by Design Fundraiser

Share

We were lucky enough to get a sneak peak of this years’ DIFFA/Chicago (The Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) Dining by Design latest fundraiser.  Shown in the Merchandise Mart – the art deco icon of interior design; DIFFA brought together some of Chicago’s best designers to create three-dimensional dining installations.

This years designs didn’t fail to impress.  With thought provoking materials used in several of the designs, to the truly fun surprises, the variety was a welcomed surprise.

The imaginative spaces (some of which were done by architecture firms) were entirely too fun.

Turner Construction’s space done by Gary Lee Partners displayed a unique way to store wine in a minimalist way.

Kehoe Design – known for their luxurious designs showed us that you can use flowers and giraffe print together in a beautiful way, tucked just under the icicled like ceiling.

Holly Hunt’s design by Gensler made us want to inspect the room in ways we usually don’t.

Knoll’s space by Goettsch Partners really invokes an idea of taking your dining table into the office.

The skyline of Chicago in the back of the space is just divine.  Leopardo teamed up with IA Interior Architects to create a room where you never want to leave the dining table.

A lengthy dinner conversation with friends in this space would be an ideal way to spend a Saturday night. CS Interiors teamed up with Neff of Chicago to create a room they named “Winter Elegance” though it conjures up images of bridal elegance as well.

Will this be the set of a future CS Bridal spread?  Richard Abrahamson of RJ Designs created a textured natural oasis that would be perfect in any home.

Plenty to see  at DIFFA’s Dining by Design space.   These inspiring designs by Chicago’s Design Community had us walking around in wanderlust.  Not a bad way to spend a Friday morning.
