Ora-Ita Gorenje Collection

What will the future have in store for the kitchen as we know it? Ora-Ito, a young French designer, mentions something to the extent of “simple clear lines, simplistic, yet high-tech, with a rounded edge on every corner”, when asked about the kitchen of the future. This was of course translated from french, but the idea remains the same. Ora-Ita exemplifies this vision in Gorenje’s kitchen of the future showcase.

This showcase’s high-tech modern approach to kitchen design could possibly raise the bar in terms of kitchen design standards world wide. While many innovations may not be blindly apparent, the most obviously innovation may be that of combining the bulk and clutter of ordinary kitchen appliances into one single unit. This unit is simply referred to as the Ora-Ito Gorenje Collection.

NXP Embeds Wi-Fi in Regular Light Bulbs

Semiconductor manufacturer NXP has just announced the latest breakthrough in energy efficient lighting – its very own smart lighting solution, the GreenChip light bulb.

The Netherlands visionary team enriched a regular light bulb with its own internet IP address. This obviously draws endless possibilities. For instance, you could easily adjust your lighting fixtures from any internet-enabled device, such as smartphones, tablets, PCs or TVs. These operations reduce not only energy consumption, but also electricity costs.

Whirlpool’s innovative new kitchen unit has been turning heads, and for good reason. This new eco-friendly kitchen unit has some remarkable new ideas. Designed to reduce waste and optimize energy, its equipped with a few features revolutionary features. For example, the excess energy given off by the refrigerator’s compressor is used to heat the water in the dish washer. Another eco-friendly design example is the refrigerator drawer, which is designed to maintained its frigid temperatures when open, something that traditional door refrigerators struggle to do.


The idea of recycling waste into energy is nothing new, a theory which has proven its self time and time again. But, this simple idea has received high praise from consumers, reducing kitchen energy consumption nearly 24%.
